Investigative Journalism Training
The Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), in partnership with Kamuhle Media’s CEO, Tabelo Tsolo, successfully facilitated a five-day SABC Investigative Journalism Course held at the SABC Radio Park Building, Auckland Park.
From October 28 to November 1, 2024, journalists from various SABC divisions gathered to engage in intensive training designed to enhance their investigative reporting skills. The course brought together delegates from diverse SABC offices nationwide, each contributing unique insights from their regional experience. Participants included a mix of radio and TV professionals, ranging from producers and bulletin writers to journalists and presenters.
Course Content and Objectives: The curriculum, crafted and delivered by IAJ facilitator and Kamuhle Media CEO Tabelo Tsolo, aimed to build a solid foundation in investigative journalism. The program covered:
Ethical and legal aspects of investigative reporting.
Advanced research methodologies and interviewing techniques for sensitive subjects.
Mobile journalism, encouraging participants to leverage multimedia for versatile storytelling across platforms.
By the end of the course, attendees had refined their skills to produce impactful, ethically responsible stories for broadcast media. The training exemplifies Kamuhle Media’s commitment to advancing journalism standards through comprehensive education and hands-on practice.
